"I am the vine, you are the branches. When you're joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can't produce a thing." Jesus
It is evident from Jesus' words that the life is in the Vine, not in the branches. The branches are simply bearers of the fruit that is produced by the Vine. In much the same way, each believer that abides in Jesus is a branch through which Jesus produces fruit. VineLife consists of groups of these believers, relationally connected, expressing the life generated by Christ in the neighborhoods of our towns and cities. Each group is a community of people in pursuit of God, committed to being kind to one another, treating one another with dignity, and seeking the best for each person's growth.
People who are a part of a VineLife Community are folks just like you who experience both the joys and the challenges of learning what it means to really follow Jesus and be his disciples in this world. As we attempt to know and become like Him we let people know that imperfect people are perfectly welcome in our community! You see, none of us have arrived, but we are headed in the right direction!
Each community usually gathers weekly to share in a potluck meal. Generally people hangout for a while and work on building vibrant, life-giving relationships with Jesus and others. Sometimes there is singing, prayer, Bible study, and sharing real life situations.
We have also found it to be important to reach out to one another throughout the week and we encourage each other to do so. We truly enjoy sharing our life in Christ with others through such activities as picnics, movies, day trips and various ministry opportunities.
