How do we multiply our Community?
We believe that if you concentrate on growing through new converts rather than simply recruiting people who move from church to church, it is much easier to multiply. The key here is to look for spiritually faithful people, not necessarily spiritually mature people. Faithfulness can come quickly! Maturity requires time! We suggest that a new convert not be asked to lead an already existing Community because there will be more mature Christians in it and a new convert will feel inadequate.
In addition, we have also found that growing big and then splitting is a traumatic experience. Often times you will lose people if you approach birthing a new Community this way. Before the Community gets too large send out one or two couples (and/or singles) with the adventurous mission of birthing a daughter church. Stay alert to those whom God is calling to be spiritual fathers and mothers. Recognize, recruit and release them to plant a new Community as God reveals His timing. Don’t try to keep them from fulfilling their hearts desire to plant a ‘simple’ church. Encourage them!
