How do you handle ceremonial events?
This is yet another area where each Community may differ, but here in our immediate area we would make these suggestions:
WEDDINGS: We encourage couples to approach marriage as a covenantal relationship. If a couple wishes to enter into the marriage covenant in a home, we have some ministers we can recommend who are registered with the State of Florida to do the premarital counseling and the nuptials.
BAPTISMS: We encourage baptism by emersion, but be creative! We have had baptisms in hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes and the beaches as well as in a traditional baptistry.
LORD'S SUPPER: Again, the way the different Communities handle the Lord's Supper varies greatly. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing! Jesus is the central focus! However according to the Bible account of the "Lord's Supper", it was a real supper, not just a small cracker and thimble full of wine. (Matthew 26:17-30)
